Senior Division to Host Virtual Retreat In 2025
Are you a blind or low-vision senior who wants to learn new tips and tricks? Do you want to know how you can remain independent after becoming blind? Do you want to develop social connections through contact with a community of blind friends and mentors? You can do all those things by participating in the 2025 Senior Retreat hosted by the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division. The retreat will begin on February 16, 2025, and end on February 22. There is no need to leave home to participate. The retreat is being hosted virtually via the Zoom platform. You will receive all the information you need to participate after registering for the event.
We understand that not every senior is conversant with technology. So if you need help with the registration process, our volunteers will be happy to help you. The same is true if you have difficulty using the Zoom platform. So don’t be shy. We are here for you.
Our Senior Retreat page will provide you with additional information and a link to the registration form. We welcome blind and low-vision seniors ages 50 and up, and we hope you will register soon. The deadline for registering is February 7, 2025. So make plans to join us.
If you have questions before registering, call 443-681-9345 or email our president, Glenn Crosby, at gcrosby@nfbtx.org.
See you at the retreat.
Time to Join for 2024!
Have you been a member of the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division for years? Or are you new to the organization? Whatever the case, we wanted to remind you that 2023 is almost in the rearview mirror, and 2024 will present another opportunity to learn new things as you navigate the journey that is blindness. With that in mind, we are posting this gentle reminder that it will soon be time to pay dues for the upcoming year, and we have several ways for you to do that.
If you still like sending paper checks, our treasurer will be happy to receive your dues that way. Just make your check payable to NFB Seniors Division and mail it to:
Duncan Larsen
304 East Simpson Street
Lafayette, CO 80026-2326
You can also pay using the donate button on this website. Choose “general contribution”, and if possible complete the memo line by including the words 2024 dues. If you have difficulty completing your payment using our donate button, we will be more than happy to help you complete the transaction if you will call or email us.
Finally, we have added a new way to pay dues this year. You can send them almost instantly using Zelle. If your bank or credit union allows you to send and receive money using Zelle, we encourage you to set up your Zelle account and pay your dues using that option. By the way, Zelle is free and saves us the cost of processing credit card payments, so the division will receive your full dues payment. It is also a great way for you to send payments to anyone who has access to Zelle. You just need to know the email address or phone number associated with an account, and you can send money. In our case, just choose to send money and set us up as a recipient from your bank’s online banking portal or app. Once we are set up in your Zelle account, you’ll be able to send your dues. To send funds using Zelle, choose to use an email address and use nfbseniors@gmail.com. FYI, you can also receive money from others using Zelle, and it won’t cost you anything.
Thank you for being a member of the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division. We value you as a part of our community, and we look forward to another year of friendship and learning together.
If you need additional information about paying your dues or anything else related to the division, please call 443-681-9345 or email nfbseniors@gmail.com.

Beware of Scam Emails
We have received several calls and emails over the last few days asking about emails or text messages that look like they are coming from President Glen Crosby or other members of the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division. The emails or text messages are asking people to contact Glen or other members of the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division Board of Directors urgently, or asking for gift cards and the codes to be sent to the sender of the message. We want to let you all know, this is a scam and not something that is being sent from Glen or any other members of the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division Board of Directors. It has been noted that the email address or phone number they are coming from is not Glen or others listed on the division website, but they are using their names. The organization would not ever ask for gift card purchases or other personal information like this in emails or text messages.
If you ever do have a question about an email or text message that you receive from Glen or anyone else from the National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division, and think it may be a scam, please make sure to reach out to Glen or the name in the email or text message prior to sending any information to it. If confirmed as a spam message, please report it immediately to issues@nfb.org.
