The National Federation of the Blind Seniors Division is planning a full program of activities as part of the annual convention of the National Federation of the Blind. The convention will take place in New Orleans, LA, from July 8 to July 14, 2025. The seniors' theme for this year is "Stepping Into Independence".
Our Seniors Division program will kick off with a seminar on July 8, from 1:30 to 5:00 PM, in Galerie 1 at the New Orleans Marriott, located at 555 Canal Street. This seminar will focus on resources available through older blind programs nationwide. Please note that this is a change from what is listed in the convention agenda. The content has changed, but if you find the listing in the agenda, the location is correct.
For those interested in improving their cane travel skills, NOMC-certified instructors will be offering free mini-lessons to blind seniors throughout the week. These personalized sessions will help with navigating the hotel and teach general travel techniques. If you'd like to participate, contact Glenn Crosby at 443-681-9345 as soon as possible, as space is limited. He can work to pair you with an instructor.
The annual business meeting will take place on July 10, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, in Studio 2. Registration for the meeting will begin at 1:00 PM for those who haven't paid their 2025 dues in advance. If you would like to avoid the line at the convention, you are welcome to pay your dues ahead of time. Please, use our website to do that. Doing this will allow you to share your contact information and pay your dues before the convention.
You will find the online membership form here.
Using this link will offer you the opportunity to either pay online or send a check to our treasurer. If you need assistance with completing the form and making your online payment, our friends at the NFB of Texas office will be happy to offer you the help you need. See you in NOLA!
